Busy Spring Days

Where has May gone? It has truly been a whirlwind on the farm and at the market! With June just around the corner, we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of new kids, as all our goats are due to kid soon. The rain has put a bit of a delay on getting the garden fully planted, but we've managed to get tomatoes and peppers out in the tubs.

The cherry harvest has been a daily delight, as we prepare their juice for our delicious jelly. There’s so much going on—so many things to harvest and distill! This week, we distilled another batch of Witch Hazel hydrosol, and it smells wonderful. We also harvested our first cutting of Lavender and distilled it, filling the air with that calming fragrance.

On top of that, we distilled some Scullcap this week, and we’re gearing up for the distillation of Japanese Honeysuckle and Yarrow. Of course, more Witch Hazel is on the agenda as well! My Damascus Rose is in bloom, not enough to harvest but a delight to bring a bloom inside to fill the air.

In between all this bustling activity, we created a fresh batch of our beloved Comfort Cream. If any are left after our local farmer's market tomorrow, I hope to make them available in our store. So much to do, but it’s all such a joyful part of life here at the homestead!
