About our Hydrosol Soap-Making
At Ozark Witch Hazel Botanicals, each bar of soap is crafted with care, using time-honored methods that honor the plants we grow, wild-harvest, and distill. We use two traditional soapmaking techniques — hand-milled triple processand hot process — each chosen to best preserve the benefits of the herbs, hydrosols, and oils inside. We use Hydrosols and our farm fresh goat milk for soap that nourishes and cleans!
✨ Hand-Milled Triple Process
Our Witch Hazel Soap, Oatmeal & Honey Soap, and Jewelweed & Yarrow Eucalyptus Soap are made using a hand-milled triple process. This extra step grates and reworks the soap by hand, blending in hydrosols and essential oils at lower temperatures. The result is a creamy, long-lasting bar that protects the delicate properties of botanicals and oils, keeping their soothing and restorative benefits intact.
Why it matters:
Preserves fragile hydrosols and essential oils
Produces a dense, luxurious, long-lasting bar
Ideal for sensitive skin and specialty herbal soaps
🔥 Hot Process
Our Wild Bergamot & Pine Tar Soap is crafted using the hot process method. This rustic, traditional technique cooks the soap until fully saponified, allowing it to cure faster while carrying the full strength of its therapeutic ingredients. Hot process soaps are valued for their robust character, natural texture, and deep cleansing power.
Why it matters:
Full-bodied, earthy, old-fashioned soap texture
Cures faster, ready to use sooner
Perfect for strong herbal blends like pine tar and wild bergamot
